How to Read Your DIU BBA Class Routine: Batches, Sections and Majors
A plain-language guide to the codes on the DIU BBA class routine — batches, sections, majors, rooms, and what to do when the schedule changes.
For a new student, the class routine can look like a grid of codes. Once you know what each part means, it becomes a map of your week. This guide explains the pieces you will see on the DIU BBA class routine and how to use them.
The three labels that matter
Batch
The batch is your admission cohort, usually shown as a number such as 70 or 72. Students in the same batch started their BBA journey together. Older batches may appear with a major attached, such as 65-Finance.
Section
A section is a smaller teaching group inside a batch or major, usually a letter such as A, B, or C. Sections exist because a single batch is too large for one classroom. Your section determines which class slot you attend when a course is taught in parallel.
Major
In the later part of the programme, students may be grouped by major such as Finance, Marketing, HRM, Accounting, MIS, or Supply Chain. A routine entry like 65-Finance means the Finance group of batch 65. A plain 65 entry usually applies to a shared section.
Reading a routine row
A typical row contains the day, time slot, course code and title, room, and teacher. For example:
- Day: Sunday
- Time: 09:00 AM – 10:30 AM
- Course: 0413-112 — Introduction to Business
- Room: 1101A + 1101B
- Teacher: DMOI
The course code usually starts with a subject prefix and a number. The number is not a rank — it is simply an identifier. Always confirm the exact course title from your official course list.
Why the same course appears in several slots
Large courses are often taught to several sections at different times. If you see the same course code on Sunday and Tuesday, check the section column carefully. Attending the wrong section can create attendance and room problems.
Labs, merges and shared rooms
- Room codes with two rooms (for example, 1101A + 1101B) usually mean a combined class or a large room split into two.
- “+M” or merge labels in a section code indicate a merged group. Check with your CR if you are unsure which group you belong to.
- Lab or tutorial sections may use a different room from the theory class.
How to check the latest routine
- Open the class routine page and select your batch and section.
- Use the day tabs to see your classes for each day.
- Check the exam routine separately during exam season — the class schedule pauses or changes.
- If a room or time looks different from what your CR shared, treat the published page as a guide and confirm with the department.
What to do when the routine changes
Routines change for room availability, teacher schedules, and holidays. When that happens:
- Refresh the page rather than relying on a screenshot from last week.
- Check the notice board or your CR’s message for official changes.
- Update your own calendar immediately, especially for exams and presentations.
- Batch = your cohort; section = your teaching group; major = your specialisation group.
- Check the section column when a course appears more than once.
- Use the published routine as a guide, and confirm official changes with the department.
- Bookmark both the class routine and the exam routine pages.
Once the codes make sense, the routine stops being a wall of text and becomes a practical weekly plan. Pair it with a simple calendar and a realistic study block, and you will spend less time guessing where you need to be.
